Let’s begin.
What Are Astrology Elements?
Zodiac Elements Meaning
In Astrology, each zodiac sign and planet is associated with one of the four zodiac elements.
Just like everything in the natural world, here on earth was created from the four elements.
What are the Zodiac Elements?
There are 12 astrological signs of the zodiac in western astrology, and these signs are grouped together into four essential elements. These zodiac elements are Fire, Earth, Air, and Water.
The Zodiac begins with the first sign Aries, which is the first Fire sign.
The next sign, Taurus is the first Earth sign. Next up is Gemini, which is the first Air sign, and finally to Cancer, which is the first water sign.
This cycle continues twice more and ends with the twelfth and final astrological sign, Pisces.

Elements Meaning in
NOTE: The elements mentioned refer to Western Astrology, not Hindu / Indian astrology or Chinese Astrology.
In those, there is a reference to materials like metal and wood, seasons like spring, summer and winter.
Those Astrology practices treat elements in a different manner.
The symbolism is so exact that the element that your astrology sign lies under greatly influences your personality traits and your characteristics.
All of the elements must work in sync and harmony with each other so that one does not get out of control.
The signs have to co-exist peacefully to sustain a balance in life.
The classical elements are the building blocks of everything. Going back to basics, searching for your roots, etc. Always a good thing.
Signs of the same elements are normally considered compatible signs, based on their sun signs being the same element

Element Imbalance
Element Imbalances
People may assume that their primary zodiac element is the same one of their Sun Sign, but this is not always the case. You would have to look at the whole horoscope or birth chart holistically. Not many people have a completely balanced chart. Most people tend to exhibit one or two primary elements.
Earthy types reflect common sense, Fiery types orientate towards action, Airy types are the thinkers and communicators, and Watery types consider life from an emotional point of view.
A missing element or elements in the chart is likely to exert a powerful and unconscious influence over that person’s chart, who often have a hard time dealing with this energy. The manifestation of this missing element shows in one of the five following ways:
- Denial – I am going to deny it exists
- Repression– I acknowledge its existence, but I am not doing anything about it
- Projection – I will let somebody else carry the missing element for me
- Sublimation – I will direct the energy where I want it to go, not where it wants to go
- Compensation – I will master the qualities of this missing element to compensate for its lack thereof.
Often, when you lack an element in your chart, you might notice that you are DRAWN to people who have significant placements of that element in their chart. Why? Well if you don’t have something in your chart then you are out of balance — even if you don’t want to admit it. You will seek it from someone else to feel more evenly keeled. You may not crave it consciously (it’s like a blind spot) but just like we all need the five food groups to achieve total physical wellness, we also need all four elements to experience psychological wellness.
Missing something?
If you lack an zodiac element or several elements in your birth chart, then the truth is, there is an imbalance. It suggests that there be a place or places in your life where you seek resolution and restoration. You need to learn about this element and how to work with it. You seek perspective and knowledge in those areas. This journey may lead you to overcompensate when it comes to that elements potential to make up for its lack. Or, there may be a complete rejection of it altogether in your psyche. Neither approach is helpful.
Remember, if you lack an element the healthiest way to integrate it is to learn from the people around you who contain that element.
