Stellium
The Guide To Stellium Astrology
Let’s take a look at a smaller known phenomenon called Stellium or Stelliums.
Some people have these in their birth charts.
So we’re going to take a look at how they impact our charts.
What Is A Stellium In Astrology?
What is A Stellium?
A stellium is defined merely as a group of 3 or more planets in a single particular sign of the zodiac or a single house of an astrological chart.
Check out this image below of stellium in a natal chart, which has 5 planets in Capricorn, and all 5 planet are in the 1st House. So the following chart would have:
- Capricorn Stellium
- 8th House Stellium
So if a group of planets are clustered together in that same sign or house, these styles and influences are now a lot louder.
That’s how a Stellium works.
Several planets unite as one powerful unit and exert an equally powerful impact.
Actor Brad Pitt has a stellium in his chart, which we cover in out article: How To Read A Birth Chart
What is a planetary stellium and what planets apply?
It’s said that a stellium must include an outer transpersonal planet, (Jupiter / Saturn) or an outer planet (Uranus, Neptune or Pluto).
You can still have a stellium with just inner planets, Sun and Moon, personal planets – Mercury, Venus, and Mars – if they’re in the same sign or house. The Sun sign and the Moon sign would have the most substantial impact on a Stellium.
Technically the plural of stellium is “stellia”, however, astrologers have a tendency to say “stelliums” when referring to more than one stellium.
Stellium Cusps
A stellium can fall within one house or across the cusp between two houses but within one sign.
So a stellium between 5th and 6th houses can work
Stelliums between Gemini and Cancer cannot.
How many planets make a stellium?
The question ‘What is a stellium in Astrology‘ is subject to a little debate.
Contemporary authorities are divided over the minimum number of planets required to form a stellium.
Some sources suggest that a stellium is defined as four or more planets in a single sign/house to fit these conditions.
Other sources say a Stellium is defined as three or more planets in a sign/house.
Others simply define it as “a grouping of several planets in one sign or house.”
For our purposes of this article today, we’re going to stick with the rule of 3.
Astrology Meaning
There is some debate on whether Ascendant, Descendant, Medium Coeli and Imun Coeli are included in the Stellium.
Personally, I would look at each case on its own as each individual is as unique as their fingerprint.
Stellium Meaning In An Astrology Chart
So hows do the influence of a Stellium affect us?
That depends on the planets, signs and houses the stellium reside in. Also any aspects the stellium make to the other planets in your chart, like T-squares.
Stellium indicate a heightened level of focus on the sign and/or house that they fall in a birth chart and having a stronger influence or pull in the native’s life.
Often to the extent that they become dominant factors in the chart as a whole.
Stellium bring a high level of energy and intensity to the subject of that house or the nature of that sign in someone’s life. It means stellium people will need to work harder to become balanced, but it also means they can really concentrate their energy to get great things accomplished in the area where the stellium occurs.
A Stellium can affect personal relationships and health issues relating to the sign and houses that the stellium falls under.
Every Stellium is a concentration of energy. So you can imagine how that can either make things a lot better or creating a real challenge, depending on the focus.
If the planets involved in a stellium were lighter in energy, like the Moon, Mercury, Venus and Neptune and were all grouped together in a romantic sign like Libra, the Stellium would have a very passionate influence on you.
However, if the Stellium involved heavier, more powerful planets and signs, such as the Sun, Mars, Uranus and Pluto in Scorpio, the effect of the Stellium as a whole would be more about extremes: intense desires, mood swings, obsession and destructiveness.

Here we look at Stellium as they appear in each of the zodiac signs.
Aries Stellium
Those with a stellium in Aries, a lot. With all the mars-charged fiery energy in your chart, you can’t help it.
With a stellium in Aries, can be some of the most playful, enthusiastic folks you know, but they can tend to get caught up in their own impulses and thirst for competition, leaving others in the dust (or pushing them away entirely) in the process.
Taurus Stellium
Those with a stellium in Taurus can make a romantic aesthete out of anyone, inspiring them to acquire the most beautiful items for their home, wear only the most elegant clothes, and pursue the relationships that thrill them most.
This is your friend who actually saves money for investment pieces rather than buying the latest in fast fashion.
The one who encourages you to never settle in love or work when something that fits you perfectly could be around the corner.
Gemini Stellium
Those with a stellium in Gemini stellium are fast talkers and even quicker thinkers.
And the moment they’re through dazzling others with their wit, they’re onto the next thing.

Just be careful its duplicitous influence doesn’t get the better of you.
Cancer Stellium
Those with a stellium in Cancer stellium have a blessing and a curse.
We could all use more of this sign’s signature emotional awareness and empathy, but with that comes an increased sensitivity that can make people with this feature in their charts feel wounded easily. In turn, they may withdraw or, in some cases, lash out.
Cancers can be extremely loving and selfless, but only when they feel comfortable coming out of their shells.
Leo Stellium
Those with a stellium in Leo stellium in their chart are hard to miss.
Whether Leo comes through in their communication style, relationships, or, heaven forbid, temper, “big” is probably the first word that comes to mind.
This sign’s energy simultaneously inspires and feeds off drama, generosity, and volume — as you may have guessed, this makes people with Leo stellia hits at parties.
Virgo Stellium
Those with a stellium in Virgo energy spells efficiency, productivity, and a fair share of worrying.
This motivation drives someone to create solid ground on which to build their future, but it can also pull them into a cycle where they fear that they’re never doing enough.
That’s what happens when someone has a stellium in a sign that’s ruled by both the sturdy element of earth and the ever-busy planet, Mercury.
Libra Stellium
Those with a stellium in Libra can feel like building your house on a seesaw.
The moment you feel comfortable, you start to feel something sliding out from under you, urging you to find somewhere else to live that could maybe, just maybe be more pleasant than where you are currently.
Nothing stresses people with this feature out more than a lack of symmetry, figuratively or literally.
Scorpio Stellium
Those with a stellium in Scorpio, every act, every conversation, every encounter feels a little more clandestine and intimate.
And that means you make moves and decisions very deliberately.
Even those closest to people with Scorpio stellia will likely admit that they’re hard to get to know.
But, once someone breaks through their steely exterior, they’ll probably want to stick around — such is the way with seductive Scorpio energy.
Sagittarius Stellium
Those with a stellium in Sagittarius are an exception to this rule.
People with this feature in their charts are passionate, confident, and, most likely, pretty darn funny. What they might lack, however, is a bounty of self-awareness.
They’re too busy seeking out their next academic endeavour or international excursion to master the art of subtly in how they express themselves.
Capricorn Stellium
Those with a stellium in Capricorn stellium are consistent, hardworking, and loyal.
They don’t mince their words and like to keep things simple and streamlined – they believe sincerely that the straightest path is the only one that leads to success.
And, make no mistake, progress is of great importance to anyone with a dominant Cap presence in their chart.
Aquarius Stellium
Those with a stellium in Aquarius exhibit a multitude of contradictory whims and behaviours.
Maybe they crave social interaction, but rarely seem to connect with others on a deeper level.
Perhaps they are highly intellectual and ambitious, but would instead start a new project than finish one that’s nearly done.
Aquarius’ ruling element, air, is the source of this restless energy, which can easily make people with this stellium feel like their own worst enemy.
Pisces Stellium
Those with a stellium in Pisces exhibit clear ideas and mode of self-expression.
They’re likely very visual and boldly creative, but they may present their vision quietly, if not timidly.
